3345 5508 Gravity Falls Funny Moments | Season 2 Reupload

The Disney show features plenty of smart mystery-solving episodes, with codes and secrets in nearly every nook and corner that add up to the main mystery at the heart of the series. You can catch it on Disney Channel and Disney XD, or stream it via their partner Hotstar.

Considered a fairly edgy show by kids' standards, the series has certainly given fans plenty of humor, thrills, and adventures, to say nothing of memorable characters and amazing writing. It's been about five years since season 2 Gravity Falls concluded, and fans are eagerly awaiting word on season 3.

The voice-cast brought sheer magic to the thrills prevalent in this series. Grunkle Stan, the great-uncle, is voiced by Hirsch (story consultant for "The Mitchells vs the Machines", developer for "Fish Hooks", writer for "The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack") himself. Jason Ritter ("Frozen II", "Raising Dion", "A Million Little Things") dubbed for Dipper Pines, and Kristen Schaal ("Bill & Ted Face the Music", "Bob's Burgers", "BoJack Horseman") for Mabel.

Other notable characters include Wendy Corduroy, the Mystery Shack cashier, and Dipper's silent crush, voiced by Linda Cardellini ("Avengers: Endgame", "Dead To Me", "Robot Chicken", "Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated"). And Soos Ramirez, the handyman, and co-owner of the Shack who's practically addicted to the word "Dude", voiced by none other than Alex Hirsch.

The Plot of Gravity Falls Seasons 1 & 2

Gravity Falls Season 3 – What's The Status & What Fans Can Expect

The show originally ran from June 15, 2012, to February 15, 2016. Both seasons 1 and 2 are the brainchild of Alex Hirsch. The main characters are Dipper and Mabel Pines, who are two of the most curious and quirkiest twin siblings in the animation genre. Their great-uncle owns a tourist trap in Roadkill County, Oregon, called Gravity Falls – a place as mysterious as it is isolated. In truth, this place is rife with paranormal elements and supernatural entities.

The twins have come over from Piedmont, California, and are helping their greedy and rather grumpy uncle run his 'Mystery Shack'. During this time, they come across an enigmatic journal deep in the surrounding forest region and learn that all is not well at Gravity Falls. The town thus becomes the unwitting hub of a dark mystery.

The 1-hour finale episode titled "Weirdmageddon 3: Take Back The Falls" (aired on February 15, 2016) more than concludes the show. It left no cliffhangers or plot holes, everything was neatly cinched.

So why are we even talking about a season 3, eh?

Official Announcements & Release Date for Gravity Falls Season 3

Alex Hirsch has gone on record (November 20, 2015) to state that season two of Gravity Falls perfectly wrapped up the storyline and that there is no real need for a season 3.

But he also shared that production for this IP has not yet halted. This is despite the storyline having crossed the finish line (our words J).

Hirsch has made it quite clear that he is open to working further on this show, and is ready to create short series and extra specials. Fans even got a taste of the former, which aired on April 17, 2012, and concluded on September 25, 2020, and were essentially filler episodes.

It's clear that Alex Hirsch – a California Institute of the Arts graduate, writer, and storyboard artist – loves Gravity Falls. Will his passion for its characters inspire a season 3?

Expected Plot of Gravity Falls Season 3

SPOILERS AHEAD! Long story short, Bill Cipher is dead. He was the 'big bad' in the show so far. He's certainly not going to make a comeback unless Hirsch and the team have plans to pull a zombie card out of the deck. Given the wit and intelligent writing that has dictated the show's style so far, that is quite unlikely.

All the mysteries, especially the one surrounding the Journal, have been solved. A season 3 will most definitely need to take a page (no pun intended) out of an entirely different book. Either way, the season 3 Gravity Falls plot will entail something brand new and might rope in other Pines family members. Guesswork so far, so don't go confirming anything.

Will Gravity Falls Season 3 Actually Release?

Season 3 will most likely not happen, because the Gravity Falls storyline has been confirmed as 'wrapped' with the first two seasons. That said, any announcement of a third season will be more than welcome, because who wouldn't want to be part of a sure thing? In the case of Gravity Falls, that's a sure success.
